Yervoy for Cancer

A healthcare provider may recommend treating late-stage melanoma, a dangerous form of skin cancer, with Yervoy™ (ipilimumab). This prescription medication is approved for use in adults and is administered through an intravenous (IV) infusion by a healthcare provider. It is approved for use when the cancer has spread to other areas in the body (metastasized) or cannot be surgically removed.
When using Yervoy for cancer treatment, the drug can help slow down the progression of the disease and extend survival. It works by blocking the action of certain substances in the body that slow down the immune system. By blocking these substances, Yervoy can help boost the immune system and increase the number of cells that work to destroy cancer cells.
