Melanoma Cancer

Melanoma is a form of skin cancer that can begin either in an existing mole or as a new growth on the skin. It is the most serious type of skin cancer, because it has the ability to spread to other parts of the body in advanced stages.

Most melanomas that appear in the skin can be seen by the naked eye. Typically, the first symptom is a change in the size, shape, color, or feel of an existing mole. Most melanomas have a black or blue-black area. Although skin cancer can be painful, pain is not a common symptom.
