It works by binding to certain proteins in the body and interfering with cancer cell growth and survival. Side effects may include hair loss, weight loss, and muscle spasms.
What Is Erivedge?Erivedge™ (vismodegib) is a prescription medication licensed for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. It is specifically approved for use when:
- The cancer has come back after surgery
- Surgery or radiation is not an option
- The cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastasized).
Erivedge is the first drug approved for metastatic basal cell carcinoma.
