Allergic Reactions to Aldara

During clinical trials on Aldara® (imiquimod cream), the most common side effects were skin reactions, including:

  • Redness
  • Flaking, scaling, or dryness
  • Swelling
  • Itching.

These side effects are normal and expected, and do not necessarily mean a person is having an allergic reaction to Aldara. In general, this medicated skin cream is not particularly likely to cause allergic reactions. Most of the skin reactions to Aldara are not allergic reactions, but are normal and expected side effects.
