What If I Overdose on Aldara?
Serious effects can occur if the medication is accidentally ingested by mouth, rather than applied to the skin. In addition, severe skin reactions may occur when too much of the product is applied to the skin.(Click Aldara Overdose for more information.)
How Should This Medicine Be Stored?
Aldara should be stored at room temperature; make sure to avoid freezing it. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets. If you do not use all of the cream in one single-use packet, the rest should be discarded; do not save it for later. What If I Forget to Apply a Dose?
If you forget to use Aldara, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. In this case, simply skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use a double dose.In general, if you miss doses of Aldara because of severe skin reactions, you should not extend your treatment cycle. For instance, if you have to stop using the medication for four days in the middle of treatment, do not add four more days at the end.
Available Strengths
At this time, Aldara is available in one strength (5%) in 0.25-gram, single-use packets (which contain 12.5 mg of imiquimod per packet). The manufacturer states that each packet is for single-use only; any remaining cream in the packet should be discarded and not saved for later.
