Aldara Directions for Use

If your healthcare provider prescribes Aldara® (imiquimod cream), the directions for use will largely depend on the particular skin condition being treated. For treating external genital or perianal warts, apply a thin layer of the cream 3 times a week for no more than 16 weeks. For treating actinic keratosis, apply one packet of the cream twice a week for 16 weeks. For treating basal cell carcinoma, apply Aldara cream five times a week for six weeks.

When using this cream, it is usually recommended to apply it at bedtime, leave it on for about eight hours, and then wash it off. If your dosage does not use up an entire package, you should not save the remainder for later. Discard the extra, and use a fresh package for each dose.
