Aldara Cream

Aldara® (imiquimod cream) is a skin medication that is available by prescription only. It is specifically approved to treat a precancerous skin condition called actinic keratosis when it affects the face and/or scalp. It is also approved for the treatment of a type of skin cancer called superficial basal cell carcinoma, as well as external genital warts or perianal warts.

Aldara comes as a cream and is applied two to five times weekly, depending on the condition being treated and whether you develop serious skin reactions. Some of these skin reactions can include skin ulcerations, oozing, and scabbing.

When using this cream, it is usually recommended to apply it at bedtime, leave it on for about eight hours, and then wash it off.
